The Position
The department Pharmaceutical Development & Supplies is primarily responsible for Early-Stage Pharmaceutical development, Late-Stage and Process Development, Process Characterization & Validation and Transfer to Commercial Production, Line Extension Development, Commercial Production Support, Primary Packaging Development and Drug Product Supplies for Preclinical and early- and late-stage Clinical Studies (Phase 1-3).
Within the department, Early Stage Pharmaceutical Development is responsible for the development of early-stage parenteral formulations for biologics, development of parenteral NCE and peptide formulations, formulation automation and GLP supplies for preclinical studies.
The position comprises predominantly the following tasks:
- Lead and manage a group of lab technicians and/or engineers in all aspects of daily project and research work in pharmaceutical development of therapeutic proteins, peptides and small molecules
- Pharmaceutical development of biologics for preclinical studies and early clinical development as well as pharmaceutical development of small molecules and peptides for parenteral application for preclinical and clinical development
- Evaluation and implementation of new methods, technologies and drug delivery approaches
- Pharmaceutical project leadership and functional representation in international technical development teams, international committees within Roche and cross-functional teams
- Ensure knowledge management and generation of development reports, regulatory documents and patents as well as scientific contribution (publications and conference talks), supervision of science projects and initiation of new research activities
- Contribute to the organizational development of Early Stage Pharmaceutical Development Parenterals and drive the personal development of the co-workers in your group
- Maintain excellent partnership with all customers and stakeholders across the project value and process chain

For this position you bring the following qualifications:
- Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, food chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields
- Preferably professional (industry) experience (3+ years) in formulation development of biologics, protein analytics and/or process development of parenteral dosage forms for biologics and small molecule parenterals
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities
- Excellent team and communication skills
- Excellent IT knowledge
- Excellent command of English
